At All Powder Coat & Screen, we want you to get the results you need from your project, and we know that includes both a great finish and a competitive price. The cost of our powder coating services depends on the specific project, but there are several strategies that can help you reduce your price per part. Here are 5 common recommendations we make to customers:
All Powder Coat & Screen keeps several commonly used powders in stock, which we have listed on our site. Because we purchase these powders in bulk and already have them available at our facility, they offer more competitive pricing and can be used without waiting for a special order to arrive.
We can always help you find a unique color or source a custom powder when your project requires one. However, special-order powders can have minimum purchase requirements or additional costs. If your goal is the best possible bottom line for your project, selecting an in-stock color is a great start.
In powder coating, there are batch-level costs like equipment setup that remain relatively consistent regardless of the number of parts being finished. Preparing equipment requires time, even if an order only includes one part.
Increasing the quantity allows those batch-level costs to be distributed across more parts, reducing the average cost per piece. Even a relatively small increase (from one part to three, for example) may significantly improve the price per part.
If you think you’ll need additional parts in the near future, combining them into a single order can be more cost-effective than submitting several smaller orders separately.
The condition of parts can affect the preparation required before powder coating. Parts that arrive with heavy oil, grease, rust, or wet paint require additional cleaning or stripping. That extra labor and processing time increase the overall project cost.
If another supplier is manufacturing your parts, ask that they be sent to our facility clean. The simplest option, though, may be to have your parts produced by our parent company, All Metals Fabricating; in that case, we’ll know the parts only need our standard three-stage washing process and subsequent powder coating.
Powder coatings are available in a wide range of options designed for different environments and performance requirements. Certain powders may provide enhanced resistance to challenging conditions like sunlight or weather.
But if those characteristics aren’t essential to your application, they may be affecting your bottom line. For example, an indoor component may not require the same level of weather resistance as a product that will remain outdoors throughout the year, so a specialized powder that’s more expensive would not be necessary.
Customers can reduce shipping costs and lead time by using our parent company All Metals Fabricating for their precision machining or sheet metal fabrication. Its manufacturing operations are located in the same facility as ours, just feet away.
We’re constantly collaborating and coordinating with All Metals on a variety of projects, so choosing their services as well as ours will simplify your entire manufacturing process.
At All Powder Coat & Screen, our goal is to provide a high-quality finish while helping you meet all the priorities of your project. If cost is a major consideration, tell us what matters most. We can review your requirements and recommend ways to make the project more economical.
